I have raised $1,350 of my required $2,300 for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. That is 58.69% of my fundraising goal in just two months! I am so thankful for all of my friends and family who have donated toward my goal as I definitely could not do this without your support.
I am currently at a little over 25 weeks until the big walk. The official training starts at 24 weeks which is quickly approaching. The 24 week training guide suggests/requires 5 day/week workouts. Three days of walking and 2 days of cross training. I am going to use biking and Zumba as my cross training workouts.
I am glad the donations are rolling in and now I just need to put my mind to training and the whole thing will be a huge success!

Happy Birthday Cassie
I wanted to wish one of my best friends in the whole world a very happy 26th birthday!
Cassie and I have been friends since college and I definitely don't know what I would do without her. For at least 3 years, we always celebrated our birthdays together since they are only 5 days apart. Since we graduated from college it has become more difficult to celebrate our birthdays together. One year we were lucky enough to celebrate them together in Spokane, WA while Cassie was going to school at Washington State and I was there for work. It was so nice to get together as I really miss getting to see this lady!
Cassie has such a kind heart. She is one of the most optimistic, kind hearted, sweet, caring people I know. Talking to Cassie can always brighten my day. She can really help put things into perspective with her optimism. Her bright smile and cheerful nature is something that I miss more than I can describe.
I miss her more than ever. I am really hoping that at some point in the next couple years that we are able to live closer to each other, but I know she is enjoying her time in Washington D.C.
I hope Cassie has the best birthday a girl could have as she definitely deserves it. I am celebrating with you in spirit! :)

The weekend of January 13-15, 2012
The weekend of January 13-15....
Last weekend was the busiest we have had since Christmas. Friday night, we traveled to New Ulm to meet our friends', Brandon and Beth, new baby girl, Larken Abbey. It was so nice to spend some time just hanging out with our friends and their beautiful girls, Liza and Larken. It was a low key night of chatting, eating Happy Joe's pizza, playing with Liza and holding Larken but it was so great to see our friends. We don't see them enough! I wish we lived closer.
Saturday morning started out with my hair appointment with my favorite stylist, Sheri. I made a big change and became a brunette! I am still getting used to the drastic change but think over time that I will learn to like it and get used to it. Then on Saturday afternoon/early evening, we traveled to Rochester for game night with my cousins Chad and Michelle and their son, Ben. My cousin, Chad, is an amazing chef and spoiled us with a 4 course homemade dinner....delicious salad, split pea soup, made from scratch rolls, steak, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and bread pudding made with donuts. It was even more delicious than it sounds. I was stuffed by the end of the night but just could not stop eating the great food. Following dinner, we played all of our favorite fun games (Apples to Apples, Last Word and Dirty Minds). It was such a great night.
Sunday during the day, we did something that I never let us do....relaxed. We watched 3 movies on DVD, hung out in our PJs and took naps throughout the day. It was just what we needed. After spending most of the day like this, we went to Matt's parents house for dinner and watched a movie with his mom. It was also great to see them as we hadn't seen them since New Years.
While the weekend was busy, it was nice to get to see Brandon, Beth, Liza, Larken, Chad, Michelle, Ben, Dennis and Mary!

a New Holiday Tradition
Matt and I hosted our first annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Party on December 9th. It was an absolute blast. We had a great turnout of friends and family, including my parents who drove from Iowa City to attend.
I made a couple appetizers and some holiday treats. I would have made more but my oven stopped working the night before the party. Next year, I hope to make more food and have fun with holiday recipes I have been wanting to make!
The evening was filled with laughter, eating, drinking, hanging out, and just plain old fun! I would say our first party was a huge success.
